UP Dowry Death Accused Shot In Leg As He Tried To Flee, Nikki’s Father Supported Police Action, Demanded Arrest Of Others Involved

New Delhi : Greater Noida police shot and injured Vipin, the prime accused in the brutal murder of his wife Nikki, after he attempted to escape custody on Saturday. According to police, Vipin tried to snatch a pistol from an officer while being taken to recover a thinner bottle he had allegedly purchased. He fled from custody near Sirsa Chauraha despite repeated warnings. Police opened fire, and a bullet struck his leg.

The father of the young woman who was set afire in front of her son in a case of dowry torture said that his son-in-law and family kept harassing her and ultimately killed her, despite having been given everything they demanded. The father of the woman, Nikki, had recently bought a Mercedes, which also caught the greedy eye of her husband, Vipin. He had been demanding it as well, the preliminary probe revealed. The victim’s father has also threatened to go on a hunger strike if the Uttar Pradesh government does not arrest all the accused through an encounter and take bulldozer action against his son-in-law’s house.

They killed my elder daughter. The accused should be arrested after an encounter. This is Yogi ji’s government. Bulldozers should be used against the accused. Otherwise, we will sit on a hunger strike,” he said. The woman in her mid-30s, identified as Nikki, was assaulted, dragged by her hair, and set ablaze by her in-laws in front of her young son and her sister — who is also married into the same family — in Greater Noida.

Her husband, Vipin, has been arrested, while police are searching for the other accused. A case has been registered against four family members: the husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and the husband of Nikki’s sister.
