Trishul Excercise : Rattled Pak Restricts Airspace Ahead Of India’s Tri-Services Exercise
New Delhi : Pakistan has issued a notification restricting multiple air traffic routes across its central and southern airspace just as India gears up for a tri-services exercise, Trishul, along the border. The move by Islamabad comes after India issued a Notam for a large-scale tri-services military exercise to be conducted near Sir Creek along the Pakistan border from October 30 to November 10.
Satellite images shared by analyst Damien Symon showed the airspace reserved for the Trishul exercise extends up to 28,000 feet, in what is being billed as one of the most significant joint operational drills in recent years. The Defence Ministry has said that the exercise, involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force, was aimed at demonstrating the joint operational capabilities, atmanirbharta (self-reliance), and innovation of the forces.
Troops from Southern Command will actively participate to validate joint operations across diverse and challenging terrains, including offensive manoeuvres in the creek and desert sectors. Earlier, Pakistan on March 10,2025 shut down its airspace for all air traffic, hours after India accused it of using commercial flights as shields amid drone attacks. The decision, notified through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), came amid heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
The move follows a night of intense drone activity along India’s northern and western borders, after Pakistan launched a coordinated wave of drone attacks targeting military infrastructure across 26 locations, ranging from Leh in the north to Sir Creek in the south.
