Mumbai weather : IMD issues orange alert for heavy rainfall today

Mumbai : Mumbai noticed heavy rainfall in the early hours of Monday, causing several parts of the city waterlogged. The area of South Mumbai and the western suburbs received most of the rain between 2 am and 5 am. Hence, the India Meteorological department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the day. The are of fort has recorded the highest amount of rainfall with74 mm, followed by Bandra at (62 mm) , Malabar hill (60 mm) , and Lower parel at 58 mm . Other areas that saw significant rainfall include Haji Al (57mm), matunga (56mm), Grant road and Santacruz (47 mm) and Dadar at (41 mm).

Western suburbs, including Andheri (33 mm), Mumbai Central (30 mm), and Borivali (28 mm) also saw consistent showers. Worli (26 mm), BKC (25 mm), Versova (23 mm), and Dindoshi (22 mm) also received their share of rainfall.

IMD has issued orange alert in Mumbai . According to he IMD’s seven-day forecast, heavy rain is expected to continue on Monday, particularly over South Mumbai and parts of the Western Suburbs. An orange alert has been issued, warning of localised flooding and traffic snarls.
