Thousands Report Outage on Elon Musk’s Platform X , Elon Musk Yet To Comment

Social media site X , suffered a brief outage before coming back online. The outage lasted around 20 minutes before the site was restored to full functions. X has faced increased scrutiny after its purchase by Elon Musk, who instituted major changes in the company, including removing around 80 percent of the original staff.
Critics of Musk have blamed failures of the site on Musk’s leadership, meaning this latest outage could be linked to him. A wave of reports to the social media tracker site DownDetector shows that a wave of reports for Elon Musk’s social media site were filed at 6 AM EDT. When tested by Newsweek, the site appeared unable to load any content in the main feed, with notifications and messages rendered inaccessible.
The reason for the failure is not yet clear. Roughly 20 minutes after the outage was first reported, the site was fully restored. When Musk first announced his intentions to buy Twitter, he said he wanted to make room for more public debate on the platform with fewer restrictions. Musk wrote The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence.
“There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right wing and far left wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society.” In one of Musk’s first moves, he fired several top executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal and Chief Legal Officer Vijaya Gadde.
