Technical Snag : Kolkata-Hindon Air India Express Flight Delayed, Airline Arranged Alternative Flight For Passengers

Kolkata: An Air India Express flight from Kolkata to Hindon was delayed by seven hours on Sunday due to a technical snag in the originally assigned aircraft. The issue affected Flight IX 1511, which was scheduled to depart from Kolkata Airport at 7:00 am and land at Hindon Airport of Uttar Pradesh.

Air India Express spokesperson said, our Kolkata–Hindon flight operated, with a delay, due to a snag on the originally assigned aircraft. The airline added that passengers were offered either complimentary rescheduling or a full refund if flight is canceled. The exact nature of the fault is not disclosed yet.

The delay also had a cascading impact on subsequent operations. The same aircraft was scheduled to operate the Hindon–Goa flight at 10:20 am, reaching Goa by 12:55 pm. However, due to the delayed arrival from Kolkata, the Hindon-Goa service had to be cancelled.

Airline expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers and assured that efforts were made to manage the disruption efficiently. Meanwhile, Air India has warned of possible delays as it begins mandatory one-time safety inspections of its Boeing 787 fleet, as directed by aviation regulator DGCA.

The intensified inspections come in the wake of the devastating Ahmedabad-London flight crash, which claimed at least 265 lives when the aircraft struck a resident doctors’ hostel shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
