
PDF chief Mehbooba Mufti on Friday accused some bigots of turning Holi into a source of fear for minorities, alleging that this is happening with approval of those in power. Her remarks came amid heightened security in several cities due to Holi coinciding with the second Friday of Ramzan.

She had also warned that attempts to pit Hindus and Muslims against each other would have “dangerous consequences” for the country. The convergence of Holi and Friday prayers during Ramzan has led to security concerns in several North Indian cities. Authorities have taken precautionary measures, including covering mosques and conducting flag marches.
In Sambhal, which witnessed communal violence last year, security has been intensified. The reopening of the Kartikeya Mahadev Temple after 46 years has further added to tensions, prompting additional security deployment to maintain peace.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings on Holi, wishing joy and unity for all. He said I wish you all a very Happy Holi. This festival filled with joy and happiness will infuse new enthusiasm and energy in everyone’s life and will also deepen the colours of unity among the countrymen.
