Railway Clarifies Rumors Over Modification In Tatkal, No Change In Tatkal Ticket Booking Timing

New Delhi: Recently, there has been a buzz on social media platforms regarding changes in Tatkal and Premium Tatkal ticket booking timings. However, Indian Railways has officially clarified that no such changes have been proposed or implemented in the ticket booking schedule. This clarification comes amid several misleading posts circulating online, which falsely claim that the booking times for Tatkal and Premium Tatkal tickets have been revised.

According to current rules of Indian Railways, Tatkal tickets can be booked one day in advance of the journey date, excluding the day of travel, from the train’s originating station. For example, if a train is scheduled to depart from its originating station on August 2, the Tatkal booking window for AC class opens at 10:00 AM on August 1, while non-AC class booking starts at 11:00 AM on the same day.

The Tatkal booking facility is available only for selected trains under Tatkal Quota. Booking is allowed for a maximum of four passengers per PNR. Tatkal tickets are available for all classes except First AC (1A). Additional Tatkal charges apply per passenger, apart from the regular fare. The permitted booking timings for railway agents also remain unchanged. Passengers can book Tatkal e-tickets through the official IRCTC website or app. Both Confirmed and Waitlisted tickets can be issued under the Tatkal quota, depending on availability.
