Rahul Gandhi Says Congress Leaders Working For BJP

Rahul Gandhi on Saturday called for the removal of party leaders and workers who were covertly working for the BJP as he addressed party members in Gujarat. Gandhi said the state Congress is unable to show a way forward for Gujarat and also warned of strict action against any activities that favoured the BJP, as well as against those disconnected from the public. Gandhi’s remarks drew criticism from the BJP, which accused the Congress of deflecting blame for its own failures and urged him to take responsibility.
The Congress leader was on a two-day visit to Gujarat, aiming to strengthen the party’s state machinery ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls. At a party workers’ meeting, he emphasised that the party’s primary task was to distinguish between two groups of Congress leaders and workers–those who genuinely uphold the party’s ideology and stand with the public.
Gandhi said If we have to take strict action, then we should do it. If 10, 20, 30, or 40 people have to be removed, then they should be removed. Those who are working for the BJP from inside should go and work from outside. You will not even get a place there. We will throw you out. He asserted that until these two groups are separated, the people of Gujarat would not trust the party.
The Congress leader noted that while Gujarat wants to move forward, it struggles to find a clear path, and the Congress has been unable to guide it. Gandhi admitted that the Congress has failed to meet the expectations Gujarat had from its leaders over the past 30 years. He said The vision of the last 20-25 years has failed, and Congress can provide this vision easily. But this is not possible unless these two types of people are filtered out.
He asserted that even if 30-40 people had to be removed, it should happen, and those who were working for the BJP should do so from outside. Gandhi’s remarks drew criticism from the BJP, which accused the Congress of deflecting blame for its own failures and urged him to take responsibility.
