Rahul Gandhi And Other Congress leaders Congratulate India’s Cricket Team For ICC Champions Trophy Win

The Congress on Sunday hailed Indian cricket team’s ICC Champions Trophy win, with Rahul Gandhi saying the team’s phenomenal run in the tournament has been truly inspiring. In a post on X, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also said, “A phenomenal team effort culminated in a glorious victory for the Indian cricket team as they lift the #ChampionsTrophy!”

Congress leader Sharma Mohammad On Sunday appreciated India’s victory in the Champions Trophy and lauded the efforts of team India’s captain Rohit Sharma for leading the team. In a tweet she mentioned that Congratulations to Team India for their stupendous performance in winning the #ChampionsTrophy2025! Hats off to Captain Rohit Sharma who led from the front with a brilliant 76, setting the tone for victory. Shreyas Iyer and K L Rahul played crucial knocks, steering India to glory!

Kuldeep Yadav (2 for 40) and Varun Chakravarthy (2 for 45) picked two wickets apiece while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami scalped one wicket each after New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to bat. Daryl Mitchell (63) and Michael Bracewell (53) played crucial knocks for the Blackcaps.

Skipper Rohit Sharma led by example with an excellent half-century as India chased down a modest target of 252 runs with just one over remaining.Rohit, who made 76 off 83 balls, struck seven fours and three sixes, during his stay in the middle. 

Earlier, New Zealand were restricted to 251/7 with the Indian bowlers, especially the spinners Kuldeep Yadav (2/40) and Varun Chakaravarthy (2/45), producing a clinical performance in the title clash. Mitchell top-scored for New Zealand with 63 from 101 balls, while Michael Bracewell, Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips contributed 53 not out, 37 and 34 respectively.
