Pune rape case update : Accused called the survivor didi, police tells court

Pune : A rape case had came into light on 26th February 2025, the incident had taken place at Pune’s Swargate bus station in Maharashtra at a bus depot. The man who allegedly raped a 26 year old woman inside a bus was arrested in Shirur Tehsil on Friday morning.
Pune bus rape accused Dattatray Ramdas Gade called the victim as ‘didi’ and took her to an empty ‘ Shiv Shahi’ bus parked at the Swargate depot and raped her. The accused was nabbed in the sugarcane fields with the help of drones and dog squads with 13 police teams he was nabbed from a paddy field following an extensive search operation within 75 hours of the manhunt.
The incident reportedly occurred early Tuesday morning inside an ST bus. The St bus an unused abandoned bus . The accused lured the victim by pretending to help her to deport her to the bus of her location. Pune bus rape case accused Dattatray Ramdas Gade was produced before the Judicial Magistrate Fist Class Court on Friday, said the report. The court has remanded the accused Gade to 12 day police custody. Defence lawyer in the Pune bus rape said that nothing was done by the accused forcefully. The case under section 64, 351(2) of 2023 has been registered against the accused.
Defence lawyers said police custody for two days was sufficient, but the court remanded the accused to police custody till March 12 for further investigation.
