PM Narendra Modi Called For An Early End To Ukraine And The US-Israel-Iran Wars, No Issue Can Be Resolved Through Military Conflict

New Delhi : PM Narendra Modi on Thursday called for an early end to the Ukraine and US-Israel-Iran wars, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only way to resolve conflicts. PM Modi said both countries shared a firm belief in the rule of law and that they will continue to push for long-lasting peace in Ukraine and in the Middle East. India and Finland share a strong commitment to the rule of law, dialogue and diplomacy. We firmly believe that military conflicts cannot resolve disputes.

Today, the world is going through a period of instability and uncertainty. Conflict persists in many parts of the world, from Ukraine to West Asia. In such a global environment, India and Europe, two of the world’s major diplomatic powers, are entering a golden era in our relationship. Our growing cooperation is giving new strength to global stability, development, and shared prosperity, PM Modi said. PM Modi’s remarks come at a time when two major conflicts — the Russia-Ukraine war in Europe and the ongoing US-Israel-Iran confrontation in the Middle East — have heightened global tensions, disrupted economies and raised fears of a wider geopolitical crisis.

The war, which has spanned for four years now, has caused tens of thousands of deaths, displaced millions and drawn strong military and financial backing for Kyiv from the US and several European nations. Moscow’s move to attack Ukraine came after years of tensions over Kyiv’s growing ties with the West and its aspirations to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato). The latest crisis in the Middle East erupted on February 28 after the US and Israel launched coordinated airstrikes on Iran, saying the operation, codenamed Epic Fury, aimed to curb Tehran’s rapidly advancing nuclear programme and weaken its military infrastructure.

Tehran responded by launching large-scale retaliatory attacks, firing hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones at Israeli targets and US-linked military installations across the Gulf. Several Gulf states, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Qatar, blocked their airspace and activated air defence systems and in some cases intercepted incoming projectiles over their airspace. The escalation, which has claimed over 1,000 lives so far, has disrupted commercial aviation routes and energy infrastructure across the Gulf, although limited flights are operational to ferry stranded people back to their countries.
