PM Modi to Address Nation at 8 PM Today, First Speech Since Operation Sindoor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the nation at 8 PM today (Monday), following heightened military developments and a recently declared ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

The announcement comes shortly after both countries agreed to halt military operations across land, sea, and air a move made after India launched Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory mission targeting terror bases in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Operation Sindoor began in the early hours of May 7, resulting in the destruction of nine terror facilities located in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. According to official sources, at least 100 militants were killed during the operation.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi chaired a high-level security review meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the chiefs of all three armed services. The meeting preceded a planned conversation between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan.

The Prime Minister has been regularly consulting senior defence and government officials at his New Delhi residence to assess India’s response to the Pahalgam terror incident, which left 26 people deadmost of them tourists.

On Sunday, PM Modi reportedly instructed the armed forces to deliver a “bigger and stronger” response to any provocation by Pakistan. Quoting a source, PTI reported the Prime Minister as saying, “Wahan se goli chalegi, toh yahan se gola chalega” (If they shoot bullets, we will fire shells).

Furthermore, as per India Today TV, sources indicated that PM Modi told U.S. Senator JD Vance that India’s decisions regarding Pakistan will remain uninfluenced by external powers. He reaffirmed that any attack by Pakistan would be met with a stronger retaliation.
