PM Modi Speaks With Gujarat Chief Minister, Enquires About Border Districts

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi dialled Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and got details of Gujarat’s preparedness as a border State and the advance planning undertaken by the state government in the current situation of tension on the border. The Prime Minister also got details of adequate steps taken by the state government for the safety and security of citizens, especially in sensitive districts like Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, Jamnagar, which are connected to the Pakistan border.

These details were shared by the Gujarat Chief Minister in a tweet today afternoon. It’s worth noting that Gujarat is the only state bordering Pakistan which has land, air and coastal borders. On Thursday, Pakistan launched a series of missiles and drone attacks targeting several regions in India, including Jammu, Rajasthan, and Punjab. All incoming threats were successfully thwarted by India’s defence forces, preventing large-scale damage and loss of life.

The provocation came just a day after India carried out precision strikes on terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack. As tensions flared, Pakistan attempted to strike back by launching a barrage of missiles and deploying drones across the Line of Control and international borders. India’s response was swift and effective. The country’s air defence systems intercepted at least eight incoming missiles, while fighter jets shot down a Pakistani F-16 and possibly two JF-17 aircraft.
