NEW DELHI: In a resolute address to the nation on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi firmly outlined India’s stance on relations with Pakistan, emphasizing that any dialogue will focus solely on combating terrorism and the return of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Speaking days after India’s targeted missile and drone strikes under Operation Sindoor hit terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK, Modi declared, “If India and Pakistan are to engage, the conversation will center only on terrorism and PoK.”
The Prime Minister highlighted the success of Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. He praised the Indian armed forces, intelligence agencies, and scientists for their role in the operation, which he described as a “pledge fulfilled” for millions of Indians. Modi underscored India’s strength and restraint, noting that the strikes neutralized over 100 terrorists, including key operatives, delivering a significant blow to terror networks.
Addressing the nation, Modi condemned the Pahalgam attack as a heinous act, particularly for targeting civilians, and vowed that such aggression would face decisive consequences. “When terrorists attacked our women, we obliterated their headquarters,” he stated, signaling India’s unyielding resolve. The Prime Minister also made it clear that India’s response marked a new boundary in its fight against terrorism, prioritizing justice and national dignity.
Modi emphasized that the era of tolerating terrorism is over, stating, “This is not an era of war, but neither is it an era to endure terrorism.” He reiterated India’s commitment to peace but stressed that it would not hesitate to act decisively against threats. The operation, he said, has sent a global message about India’s capability and determination to counter terrorism effectively.
