PM Modi Flags Off Trek and Bike Rally in Harsil, Promotes Winter Tourism in Uttarakhand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a trek and bike rally in Harsil after offering prayers at the winter abode of Maa Ganga in Uttarakhand’s Mukhwa. Accompanied by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Prime Minister also took a moment to admire the breathtaking snow-covered peaks and interacted warmly with the local residents.
During his visit, PM Modi explored an exhibition showcasing the works of local artists, appreciating the region’s rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes. Traditional folk performances were held in his honor, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

Chief Minister Dhami emphasized the significance of PM Modi’s visit, stating that it would help put Mukhwa on the global tourism map while reinforcing Uttarakhand’s deep-rooted cultural and religious traditions.

“This is a historic moment for Mukhwa. On behalf of the people of Uttarakhand, I extend a heartfelt welcome to our esteemed Prime Minister on his winter visit to Devbhoomi Uttarakhand,” Dhami said.
Boosting Winter Tourism in Uttarakhand
The Uttarakhand government has launched a Winter Tourism Programme this year, drawing thousands of devotees to the winter seats of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The initiative aims to promote religious tourism while supporting local businesses, homestays, and the broader tourism sector.
Ahead of his visit, PM Modi reaffirmed his government’s commitment to enhancing tourism in the state.
“We are dedicated to strengthening Uttarakhand’s economy by promoting tourism in Devbhoomi. Tomorrow morning at around 9:30 am, I will have the privilege of worshipping Maa Ganga in Mukhwa. Following this, I will engage with my family members in Harsil,” the Prime Minister posted on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).PM Modi also expressed his excitement about visiting the revered Mukhwa temple, known globally for its spiritual significance and mesmerizing beauty.
