New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India is poised to export electric vehicles (EVs) to 100 countries, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s automotive sector. Speaking at The Economic Times World Leaders Forum, Modi revealed that a major program related to this initiative is scheduled for August 26, though he provided no further details. He emphasized India’s growing prowess in research and innovation as a key driver of this achievement.
Modi also highlighted India’s progress in the semiconductor industry, stating that the country’s first domestically produced semiconductor chip will be available by the end of 2025. Modi also celebrated India’s space sector achievements, noting that the country has completed over 60 space missions in the last 11 years, with more in the pipeline. He highlighted the upcoming Gaganyaan mission, which will leverage the expertise of Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, and India’s recent success in space docking technology.
Additionally, Modi cited robust economic indicators, including the addition of 22 lakh formal jobs in June 2025, the highest ever recorded in a single month, according to EPFO data. He noted that India’s retail inflation is at its lowest since 2017, and foreign exchange reserves have reached an all-time high. The Prime Minister also mentioned that India’s solar PV module manufacturing capacity has grown from 2.5 GW in 2014 to 100 GW, underscoring the nation’s strides toward self-reliance and global leadership.
