Pavagadh Mishap : Falling Rocks Kill 2 Pilgrims, Five Injured

Vadodara : An accident occurred early in the morning at the Pavagadh hill. Near Patiya Pul on the hill, sudden falling rocks buried seven pilgrims. According to reports, two pilgrims died on the spot, while five others were seriously injured.

The incident occurred around 5:00 am. Due to continuous rainfall in the area over the past few days, water flow on the hill had increased significantly. This caused soil erosion, which led to large rocks sliding down.

Pilgrims who had come for early morning darshan were caught in the incident. As soon as the accident was reported, the local ropeway rescue team rushed to the spot and began operations to remove the people trapped under the rocks. The local village sarpanch also joined the rescue efforts. Pavagadh police were informed immediately and reached the site to assist in rescue and relief work.

The injured pilgrims were taken to Halol Government Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were sent for postmortem. Preliminary information suggests that the victims were from Surat and Ahmedabad, but official identification and further details will be confirmed after investigation.

With the beginning of the monsoon season, concerns have been raised about safety and the risk of landslides in the Pavagadh hill area. Authorities have started an investigation into the incident.
