Pakistan Blames India For Suicide Car Bomb Attack In Waziristan: India Rejects It With ‘Contempt’

New Delhi: A major suicide car bombing rocked Pakistan’s North Waziristan district on Saturday, killing at least 14 soldiers and injuring 25 others, including civilians. The attack, which occurred during a curfew meant to facilitate military movement, struck a military vehicle in the village of Khadi around midday. Pakistan’s military swiftly issued a statement blaming India for orchestrating the bombing.

In response, India’s Ministry of External Affairs firmly rejected the accusation.“We have seen an official statement by the Pakistan Army seeking to blame India for the attack in Waziristan on 28 June. We reject this statement with the contempt it deserves,” said the ministry in a written response on Sunday.

According to initial investigations, around 800 kilograms (1,760 pounds) of explosives were used in the blast, causing extensive destruction to nearby residential buildings, the Associated Press reported. Conflicting figures emerged following the incident. While Pakistan’s military reported 13 soldiers killed and three civilians wounded, other sources indicated that among the injured were 15 soldiers and 10 civilians, including children.

“In this tragic and barbaric incident, three innocent civilians including two children and a woman also got severely injured,” said the Pakistan Army, as reported by Reuters.

The Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, a splinter faction associated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the bombing. The attack is one of the deadliest in recent months in the volatile tribal belt, underscoring the persistent threat posed by militant outfits in the region.
