Operation Sindoor : India’s Boldest Strike on Terror Since 1971 War

In a decisive response to the April 22, 2025, terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, conducting precision strikes on nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The Ministry of Defence confirmed the pre-dawn operation on May 7, 2025, at 1:44 AM, targeting locations identified as hubs for planning cross-border attacks against India.
The strikes, described as “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” deliberately avoided Pakistani military installations, reflecting India’s restraint in both target selection and execution, according to the Ministry’s press release. The operation aimed to dismantle infrastructure linked to the Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian civilians and one Nepali national. The Ministry emphasized India’s commitment to holding those responsible accountable, stating, “We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable.”
Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) acknowledged the strikes, confirming hits on three locations Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad launched from Indian airspace. Social media footage shared by RT on May 6, 2025, captured the moment an Indian missile struck a target in Pakistan, highlighting the operation’s intensity.
The Ministry of Defence announced that a detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor would follow later on May 7, 2025. The strikes mark India’s deepest military action inside undisputed Pakistani territory since the 1971 Indo-Pak War, underscoring the gravity of the response to the Pahalgam attack.
