Child’s Heartbreaking Testimony in Greater Noida Dowry Killing Case

In a tragic incident in Greater Noida’s Sirsa village, a six-year-old boy witnessed his mother, Nikki, being brutally killed by his father and grandmother over dowry demands. The child recounted the horrific event, stating that his father, Vipin, and grandmother poured a substance on his mother, slapped her, and set her ablaze using a lighter. When asked by media if his father was responsible, the boy silently nodded, confirming the gruesome act.

Two disturbing videos circulating online, as reported, capture the violence. One shows a man and woman assaulting Nikki, dragging her by her hair, while another depicts her limping down stairs, engulfed in flames. The footage was recorded by Nikki’s elder sister, Kanchan, who is married to Vipin’s brother and lives in the same household. Kanchan told reporters that Nikki faced relentless harassment for not meeting a dowry demand of Rs 36 lakh. Despite their family providing a branded SUV and valuables at the time of Nikki’s 2016 marriage, the in-laws’ demands persisted, including an additional car, Kanchan said. She alleged that on Thursday night, Nikki was beaten and set on fire.

The incident occurred under the Kasna Police Station limits. Neighbors rushed Nikki to Fortis Hospital in Greater Noida, but she was later transferred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, where she succumbed to her injuries. Police have arrested Vipin, the prime accused, and registered a case against four family members, including Nikki’s mother-in-law, father-in-law, and brother-in-law. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities seeking the remaining suspects.

Kanchan, also a victim of dowry-related abuse in the same family, expressed her anguish, stating she was unable to save her sister despite being present. The viral videos and the child’s testimony have sparked widespread outrage, highlighting the persistent issue of dowry-related violence in the region.
