Nitish’s spat with Tejashwi Yadav in Bihar Assembly

Bihar Assembly on Tuesday witnessed heated verbal exchange between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday where the former asserted that he is responsible for the political stature of Tejashwi’s father, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. During the discussion, Nitish Kumar, in an apparent jibe at Tejashwi, remarked, What was there in Bihar earlier? It was me who made your father what he became.

Kumar invoked the past records of the RJD tenure from 1994 to 2005. He said we came here on November 24, 2005. I want to say what kind of situation was there at that time. Nobody would go out in the evening. No road was there. I was a minister in the Centre, we had to go to places on foot. There used to be many confrontations in society.

Yadav, the Leader of Opposition, had hit out at Nitish Kumar, questioning his narrative of Bihar’s history before 2005. He made a scathing attack on the state government. Sarkar khatara, system khatara, mukhyamantri thaka hara, aadmi ghoom raha mara mara’ (the government is like a rickety old car, the system is defunct, the CM is a spent force and the people are distraught, Yadav said while addressing the house. Tejashwi said it was said that there was something before 2005. The world was created after 2005. We should delve a bit into the details and history. It was very necessary to remind them again that all these members were present, and it seemed that the BJP members were present too.

In January this year, Lalu Prasad Yadav had said that the doors of the INDIA bloc are open for the JD(U) chief. “Our doors are open for Nitish Kumar. He should also unbolt his gates. This would facilitate the movement of people from both sides,” the RJD chief had said.
