Mumbai Rains: Devendra Fadnavis Says Mithi River Water Level Gradually Declining

Mumbai — Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the water level in the Mithi River is steadily decreasing following heavy rainfall that dumped approximately 300mm of rain on Mumbai, causing widespread disruptions. The intense monsoon downpour resulted in flooding across several parts of the city and led to some loss of life and property damage in Maharashtra.

Fadnavis confirmed that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed to affected areas to assist with relief efforts. While the heavy rains created significant challenges, the gradual decline in the Mithi River’s water levels offers hope for a return to normalcy in Mumbai.

A red alert remains active for the Konkan and Ghat regions, with meteorological authorities warning of potential heavy rainfall in the coming hours. Emergency response teams are on high alert to manage any further disruptions caused by the ongoing monsoon.

Fadnavis reiterated the government’s focus on ensuring public safety, with SDRF and NDRF personnel actively engaged in response operations. Residents are advised to stay cautious as the weather remains unpredictable.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, prioritizing the safety of citizens amidst the monsoon’s challenges.
