The menacing message, reportedly issued by a group identifying itself as ‘Lashkar-e-Jihadi,’ claimed that 34 vehicles rigged with “human bombs” and 400 kg of RDX explosive have been strategically placed across the city. The threat warned of a devastating explosion intended to “shake entire Mumbai” during the Anant Chaturdashi celebrations, a significant day for the Ganesh Visarjan festival.
According to Mumbai Police, the message further alleged that 14 Pakistani terrorists have infiltrated India to execute the attack. The threat’s timing, coinciding with a major religious festival, has heightened concerns, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Mumbai Police stated, “Traffic Police in Mumbai received threats over their official WhatsApp number. In the threat, a claim has been made that 34 ‘human bombs’ have been planted in 34 vehicles across the city.” The statement emphasized that the force is on high alert, with security measures intensified across Maharashtra.
Officials are treating the threat with utmost seriousness, investigating all possible angles to verify its credibility. Enhanced security protocols have been implemented at key locations, including religious sites, public transport hubs, and crowded areas, to ensure public safety during the festive period.
