Modi Highlights Healthcare and Heritage During Nagpur Visit

NAGPUR : Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a series of stops in Nagpur on Saturday, blending tributes to historical figures with announcements of healthcare advancements. Modi began his visit at the Hedgewar Smruti Mandir, where he honored Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) founder K B Hedgewar and its second chief, M S Golwalkar, acknowledging the RSS volunteers’ selfless contributions across the nation.

Next, Modi visited Deekshabhoomi, the site where Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar adopted Buddhism in 1956 alongside his followers, a moment reported by sources as a significant nod to India’s cultural history. The prime minister then laid the foundation stone for an extension building at the Madhav Netralaya Eye Institute and Research Centre.

In remarks delivered during the visit, Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to providing top-tier medical care to the most impoverished citizens. He credited the Ayushman Bharat scheme with enabling millions to access free treatment. Additionally, he noted a tripling in the number of operational All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) under his administration, further underscoring healthcare progress.

Modi also took the opportunity to reflect on broader national themes, asserting that India is advancing by shedding a colonial mindset and the remnants of its past subjugation. His visit, rich with symbolic gestures and policy highlights, showcased a blend of reverence for tradition and a focus on modern governance.
