The saffron party also comfortably won the Shalimar Bagh B ward, where Anita Jain defeated AAP’s Babita Rana by a margin of over 10,000 votes. The seat fell vacant after BJP councillor Rekha Gupta won the assembly elections in February and became Delhi’s chief minister. BJP’s Manisha Rani won the Dwarka-B ward by 9,100 votes, defeating AAP’s Raj Bala. In Ashok Vihar, BJP’s Veena Asija won a close contest, defeating AAP’s Seema Goyal by 405 votes. Earlier declared results had also shown BJP victories in Vinod Nagar by 1,769 votes, Greater Kailash by 4,065 votes, Sangam Vihar by 3,628 votes, and Chandni Chowk. Of the 12 wards where voting was held on November 30, nine were earlier held by the BJP and the remaining by AAP.

Strong rooms storing EVMs were guarded with round-the-clock CCTV surveillance and paramilitary as well as Delhi Police security.
