Man Kills Pregnant Wife Day After Celebrating Valentine’s Day, Haryana CA Confesses Within 18 Hours

New Delhi : A four-month-old marriage ended in alleged premeditated murder on Sunday evening after a chartered accountant was accused of killing his pregnant wife in Haryana’s Jhajjar district and attempting to pass it off as a robbery. According to police, Anshul was driving Mehak from her parental home in Hansi to Gurugram when the incident occurred near a village close to Badli.

Police said they received a Dial 112 call claiming that a newly married couple had been attacked and that the woman had been killed during a robbery. Mehak’s body was later found near a canal. At the scene, Anshul allegedly told police that unidentified men had intercepted their car, murdered his wife and fled with the vehicle. Badli Station House Officer Suresh Kumar said, “He told us that some men stopped their car, assaulted them, killed his wife and took away the car.”

He has confessed to the crime. The full sequence will be clear after police remand, SHO Suresh Kumar said at a press briefing. Investigators said suspicion over his wife’s character emerged as a possible motive. According to police, Anshul objected to her frequent phone conversations with colleagues at the bank. An FIR has been registered based on a complaint filed by Mehak’s family.

Mahak’s father, Krishna Kathuria, had suspected his son-in-law from the very beginning. While committing the crime, Anshul wore gloves to avoid leaving any fingerprints. He first strangled Mahak and then used scissors to slit her throat. The victim was five months pregnant. Anshul, a resident of Hisar, and Mahak, from Hansi, got married on September 25, 2025.

According to the police, the accused executed the murder on February 15, when the couple was returning to Gurugram, after celebrating Valentine’s Day in Hisar. “Her husband killed her with a sharp-edged weapon near Pahsaur village in Jhajjar’s Badli police jurisdiction on the night of February 15. He informed the police later and tried to portray the case as a loot bid. When Badli police took him to the crime spot, he failed to tell how the incident occurred and how many assailants had killed his wife.
