Live Video : Doctors Perform Surgery During 8.8 Magnitude Earthquake In Russia

Moscow : A viral video is showing healthcare professionals’ resilience and strength even as a natural disaster strikes. Footage from Russia shows doctors at Kamchatka Cancer Center when an 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck.
The doctors were performing surgery on a patient, with the video showing the initial shaking from the earthquake and the doctors’ quick movements to secure the patient. Minister of Health of the Kamchatka Krai, Oleg Melnikov, said that despite the danger, doctors remained calm and stayed with the patient.
Melnikov also shared that the patient is doing well, writing, I admire and thank our specialists for their professionalism and resilience in a stressful situation. The earthquake started a slew of small tsunamis throughout the Pacific Coast. So far, a tsunami has hit coastal areas of Russia’s Kuril Islands, Japan’s large northern island of Hokkaido, Hawaii and Alaska.

The powerful earthquake generated tsunami warnings and advisories for a broad section of the Pacific, including Alaska, Hawaii and the US West Coast. It also triggered a tsunami in Japan while alerts were issued as far as China and New Zealand. Frothy, white waves washed up to the shore in northern Japan, as cars jammed streets and highways in Hawaii’s capital, with standstill traffic even in areas away from the shoreline.
