Leaked Signal Chat Exposes U.S. Attack Plans Shared with Journalist, Sparking White House Denials

In a striking revelation, The Atlantic magazine has released the full transcript of a Signal messaging app conversation detailing U.S. attack strategies against Yemen’s Houthi rebels, shared directly with its editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, by senior Trump administration officials. The publication of the chat transcript comes amid efforts by the administration to minimize the fallout, with President Trump labeling the situation a “witch hunt” targeting his National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz.

The leaked discussion emerged after Waltz added Goldberg to the Signal group, a platform widely available for public use. Waltz later took to X to downplay the exposure, asserting, “No locations. No sources & methods. NO WAR PLANS.” Despite his dismissal, the transcript offers an unfiltered glimpse into the administration’s deliberations.

The White House, facing scrutiny, maintained on Wednesday that no classified information had been compromised, sharply criticizing Goldberg and branding him a “liar.” The Atlantic, in response, defended its decision to publish, stating in its Wednesday report that it believed “people should see the texts in order to reach their own conclusions.” The chat featured prominent administration figures, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Vice President JD Vance, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, underscoring the significance of the exchange.
