New Delhi : In a major revelation, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Masood Azhar has claimed that the Pakistan-based terror outfit’s women’s wing has recruited 5,000 members. The formation of Jamaat-ul-Mominat, headed by Masood Azhar’s sister Saeeda, is aimed at reinforcing the terrorist group’s presence and expanding its reach by recruiting women.
He highlighted that over 5,000 women have joined the group in recent weeks and called for the establishment of district-level organisations across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to facilitate recruitment and training. Each district will have a dedicated office led by a female head, or Muntazima, to coordinate the activities of the wing. It is Allah’s grace that within a few weeks, more than 5,000 women have joined. Many sisters have said that as soon as they were recruited, their state of mind changed and they realised the goal of life.
District units will be formed, every district will have a muntazima (manager), and work will be distributed. Five thousand members, in so little time,” Azhar wrote. According to the JeM chief, each district will have a dedicated office led by a female head, or Muntazima, to coordinate the activities of the wing. His post included claims that many women who joined the unit expressed that it “gave them a sense of purpose and strengthened their faith.”
He described the growth as rapid and systematic, noting that the terrorist group intended to unify members under a shared ideology and structure and encouraged members to incorporate these spiritual practices into their daily lives to cultivate a sense of purpose and devotion. The creation of JeM’s women’s wing signals a notable shift in Pakistan’s militant landscape. Analysts suggest that women are emerging as new faces in extremist operations, reflecting adaptive strategies among militant organisations.
