New Delhi: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries had a hotline conversation on Tuesday to address unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army. India issued a stern warning to Pakistan over these repeated violations along the Line of Control (LoC).
Yesterday morning, the ceasefire breaches were limited to the LoC. However, the situation escalated late last night when Pakistani forces opened fire along the International Border in the Pargwal sector of Jammu. Notably, this comes after reports claiming that the Pakistani military has begun preparations for a possible Indian military action, with both the army and navy on alert.
Sources in the military establishment stated that the Pakistan Air Force has reduced flying operations by over 50%, limiting activity to essential missions only to avoid confusion in the airspace. A Pakistani minister has already indicated the military’s mindset, stating that they expect an Indian attack within the next 24 to 36 hours.
Following the ceasefire violation in the Pargwal sector along the International Border, additional BSF personnel were deployed as Indian troops responded swiftly and in a measured manner to the Pakistani aggression. On the LoC, the latest round of firing was reported from the Naushera and Sunderbani sectors in Rajouri district, the Akhnoor sector in Jammu, and the Baramulla and Kupwara districts in Kashmir. Following the Pahalgam attack in which 26 people were killed when terrorists opened fire on tourists in the Baisaran meadow, cross-border firings by Pakistan have been happening frequently.
