India Has Held Discussions With Iran On Energy Security And Shipping : Ministry Of External Affairs

New Delhi : India has held discussions with Iran on energy security and shipping, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Thursday. The MEA spokesperson said External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar had three conversations with his Iranian counterpart. The MEA spokesperson was responding to questions about reports of Iran allowing oil meant for India to pass through the Strait of Hormuz after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s conversation with his Iranian counterpart.

Commenting on reports about two ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, Randhir Jaiswal said he does not have much clarity at the moment. The MEA also provided an update on Indian nationals in Iran, saying that around 9,000 Indians are currently in the country. The spokesperson added that after the onset of the conflict, several Indians, particularly students, have been shifted to safer locations.

We are facilitating all Indians who are willing to return back to the country. Our mission is in touch with the Indian community. We are encouraging Indians to return back, those who wish to do so,” the MEA said. We reject such baseless allegations. It has become second nature for Pakistan to blame India for its own misdeeds.

Responding to Pakistan’s allegation that India was responsible for its conflict with Afghanistan, the MEA strongly rejected the claim, calling it baseless. “We reject such baseless allegations. It has become second nature for Pakistan to blame India for its own misdeeds,” Jaiswal said. The MEA added that “no amount of storytelling is going to alter this reality, nor is anyone fooled by Pakistan’s assumed victimhood.”
