Four Attackers Shoot At Former Congress MLA in Himachal’s Bilaspur

Congress leader and former MLA Bambar Thakur injured on Friday after four unidentified assailants opened fire on him and his Personal Security Officer (PSO) outside his residence in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur district. A party worker, who was also present there, suffered a bullet injury to his leg. Reports suggest that around 12 rounds were fired. Both Bambar Thakur and his PSO sustained gunshot wounds to the back and abdomen.

A group of armed men can be seen entering Thakur’s house and firing at him before fleeing away from the scene. While two of them entered the house, the other two stood at the gate. While his security officer was rushed directly to the hospital, Thakur was initially moved to a safe location before being taken to AIIMS hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred when the former legislator was sitting in the courtyard of his residence, which had been allotted to his wife by the Himachal Pradesh government. Following the incident, the accused ran on foot towards the main market area.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, in a video statement, confirmed that he had spoken to Thakur after the incident and took note of his condition. I have spoken to Bamber Thakur and urged him to go to AIIMS but he wished to be treated in IGMC Shimla and the deputy Commissioner has been instructed to do the needful he added.
