A massive fire broke out in an AC godown in Gyanda Society near Jivraj Park cross road in Ahmedabad today. 10 blasts took place one after the another from the building. Due to the blasts, there was an atmosphere of fear among the locals around.
More than 10 fire engines were immediately rushed to the spot. Firefighters from Navrangpura, Prahladnagar and Jamalpur areas reached the spot. Vejalpur MLA Amit Thakar also visited the spot. Fire department personnel rescued the mother and two-year-old child from the spot. However, according to the information received, both lost life during treatment.
According to preliminary information, an AC godown was built in the residential building itself, which caught fire. Along with the fire, more than 10 blasts occurred in the building one after the other, causing a huge panic among the local residents. The fierce flames also engulfed the surrounding vehicles. It is believed that the explosions were caused by gas cylinders after the fire.
