Elon Musk Officially Announces Launch Of New Political Party After Trump’s New Legislation

In a bold political move, billionaire Elon Musk announced the creation of a new political party in the United States: the “America Party.” Sharing the news in a post on Saturday, Musk wrote, “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”
The declaration follows the signing of former president Donald Trump’s sweeping tax and spending legislation, coined the “One Big Beautiful Bill”, which Musk has publicly and sharply condemned. The bill, signed into law on July 4, marks a turning point in the once-close relationship between the billionaire tech magnate and the president.
Musk, the largest individual donor to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and former head of the administration’s Department of Government Efficiency, was instrumental in promoting cost-cutting measures during Trump’s second term. However, tensions escalated as Trump pushed forward with expansive spending initiatives, culminating in the recently signed bill.
Having previously warned he would break from the current system if the bill became law, Musk followed through with the launch of his new party. Criticizing what he sees as a broken political structure, he declared, “When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.”
He further expanded on his strategy in a separate post, drawing historical parallels to challenge the entrenched power structures in Washington. “The way we’re going to crack the uniparty system is by using a variant of how Epaminondas shattered the myth of Spartan invincibility at Leuctra: Extremely concentrated force at a precise location on the battlefield,” Musk explained.
It’s unclear to what extent Musk has taken steps to legally form the party, which would be required to register with the Federal Election Commission. The most recent FEC filings showed no indication that has happened. As of now, there has been no official response from Trump or the White House regarding Musk’s announcement. However, the move signals a deepening rift between two of the most influential figures in recent American politics, and the emergence of a potentially disruptive force on the national stage.
