Delhi bomb blast : Security forces demolish house of Delhi blast suspect Dr. Umar Nabi in Pulwama

SRINAGAR: In a decisive escalation against terror networks, security forces demolished the residence of Dr. Umar Nabi in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday, according to official statements. Nabi stands accused of masterminding the devastating car bomb explosion near Delhi’s iconic Red Fort on November 10, which claimed 13 lives and sowed panic in the capital.

Investigations by authorities have uncovered Nabi’s deep involvement in a sophisticated terror cell affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). Central to the operation was a foreign operative known as Ukasa, who served as the crucial conduit connecting the Delhi-based group to broader Pakistan-supported extremist infrastructures. The conspiracy’s roots trace back to 2022 in Turkey, where Nabi and three fellow operatives—each tied to JeM and AGuH—were based in Ankara. Their initial exchanges occurred over Telegram before transitioning to more secure platforms such as Signal and Session to evade detection. “Ukasa directed them in establishing hidden operational units and minimizing their online traces,” one official disclosed.

The cell’s blueprint called for a high-impact, coordinated assault across multiple urban centers, incorporating vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and direct armed assaults. To execute this, the group acquired three vehicles: a Hyundai i20, a red Ford EcoSport, and a Maruti Brezza. The i20, under Nabi’s control, was the one rigged and detonated adjacent to the Red Fort. Law enforcement later seized the EcoSport in Faridabad, while probes into the Brezza’s whereabouts continue.

Assisting Nabi was Dr. Muzammil, a physician at Al-Falah University and a trusted collaborator, who personally scouted the Red Fort site to assess vulnerabilities in its defenses. Sources indicate the timing of the assault aligned with potential high-profile events, including Republic Day celebrations slated for 2026 and the upcoming flag-hoisting ceremony at Ayodhya’s Ram temple on November 25.

In related seizures, more than 350 kilograms of explosives—comprising ammonium nitrate and remnants of RDX—were recovered from a Faridabad location in prior raids. Now, agencies are intensifying efforts to track Ukasa’s electronic communications and monetary trails, bolstered by collaboration with international intelligence partners, aiming to dismantle the entire syndicate.
