Defiant Mamata Banerjee Determined To Fight, To Move SC Over Alleged Poll Rigging

Kolkata : Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee declared her intent to challenge the 2026 West Bengal poll mandate in the Supreme Court, levelling serious allegations of electoral irregularities against the Bharatiya Janata Party, which secured a thumping 200+ majority in the state and the Election Commission of India.

Announcing her shift towards legal activism, Banerjee further mentioned that she and the outgoing Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Chandrima Bhattacharya, who lost this year’s election, would resume their legal practice in courts regarding the poll mandate.

The Chief Minister, yesterday, took a firm stand against resigning, framing her decision to stay in office as a deliberate act of protest against what she describes as a forcefully stolen mandate. This sentiment was echoed by Abhishek Banerjee, who was praised by the CM for his immense hard work.

Abhishek asserted that maintaining their positions is their way of protesting the electoral process. Daring the Union Government to take action, the Chief Minister stated that the Centre is free to impose President’s Rule if they wish, provided it goes on the official record.

To maintain order on the ground, winning candidates have been strictly instructed to remain in their respective constituencies and take direct responsibility for tackling any outbreaks of violence. As a symbol of the party’s cultural identity and resilience, Rabindra Sangeet is set to be played at all Trinamool party offices on the day of the swearing-in ceremony.
