CM Fadnavis Receives Threat Message from Pakistan

Mumbai: The Mumbai Traffic Police recently received a warning message about a potential attack on Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s office. According to sources, the threat originated from Pakistan. A case has been registered at Worli Police, and authorities are actively investigating to trace the message’s source.
A police insider revealed, “The traffic police were alerted after receiving a threatening WhatsApp message from an unidentified number, prompting both law enforcement and investigation teams to be put on high alert.”
In a related development, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde received a death threat via email just days ago. The email, which reportedly included plans to blow up his car, was directed to multiple locations including the Goregaon and JJ Marg police stations and the state secretariat at Mantralaya. In response, the Mumbai Police and the Crime Branch have initiated an inquiry, tracing the sender’s IP address, while Shinde’s security measures have been significantly enhanced.
This incident is not isolated. Shinde has faced several death threats even before assuming his Chife Minister. For example, on January 6, 2025, a 24-year-old Thane resident, Hitesh Prakash Dhende, was arrested after posting a death threat against him during an Instagram Live. In another case, on April 11, 2023, a caller identified as Rajesh Agawane threatened, “I will blow up Eknath Shinde,” leading to his immediate apprehension by authorities. Additionally, on February 13, 2023, Shinde received death threats via a letter from Naxalite elements, resulting in an offense registered under IPC section 506(2) (criminal intimidation) at the Wagle Estate police station in Thane.
