Centre Orders High-Level Probe Into IndiGo Crisis, Sets Up 24X7 Control Room For Monitoring

New Delhi : India’s largest airline, IndiGo, is grappling with one of its worst operational crises in recent years, triggering massive flight cancellations, long delays, passenger chaos at airports, and a dramatic spike in domestic airfares. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has taken urgent action, setting up a 247 control room, issuing operational directives, granting temporary regulatory exemptions, and launching a high-level enquiry to examine accountability and recommend corrective measures.

The government has initiated a detailed enquiry into the Indigo service disruption. The investigation will examine what went wrong, determine accountability, and propose corrective measures to prevent recurrence. The aviation ministry has set up a dedicated Control Room at 011-24610843, 011-24693963, and 096503-91859 to monitor the situation in real time, coordinate with airlines, and ensure immediate resolution of emerging issues.

This measure aims to restore flight schedules without compromising safety, prioritising passengers dependent on timely air travel. The Ministry has instructed Indigo to take all operational steps to stabilise flight services. Officials expect partial normalisation of schedules by tomorrow, with full restoration anticipated within three days. Passengers affected by cancelled flights will receive full refunds automatically, eliminating the need to request compensation.

Priority support will be given to senior citizens and differently abled passengers, including lounge access and necessary assistance during travel. All affected passengers will receive refreshments and essential services while waiting for their flights, aiming to reduce inconvenience during delays.
