
New Delhi : Panic swept through parts of the national capital this week as nine bomb threats were sent to eight schools and one college in Delhi over three consecutive days, prompting emergency evacuations and sweeping security checks. The threats, all received via email, have primarily targeted schools in Dwarka, Vasant Kunj, Hauz Khas, Chanakyapuri and Paschim Vihar, and even St. Stephen’s College, one of Delhi University’s most prestigious institutions.
Although police declared all threats to be hoaxes, the fear returned stronger the next day and peaked on Wednesday, when four more schools reported receiving similar threats. Staff members present overnight at some of the affected schools were quickly evacuated. In all cases, Delhi Police, fire department, bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and cyber experts rushed to the scenes and thoroughly combed the premises. So far, nothing suspicious has been recovered from any location.
Day-by-Day Breakdown: List of Schools and College That Received Threats
Monday (Day 1 – July 14):
- Navy Children School, Chanakyapuri
- CRPF School, Sector 16, Dwarka
- CRPF School, Prashant Vihar
Tuesday (Day 2 – July 15):
- St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University – received a bomb threat at 7:15 am
The email claimed that four IEDs and two RDX explosives had been planted on the premises and in the college library, with a detonation time of 2 pm.
Police, bomb squad and fire services rushed in. Nothing suspicious was found. - St. Thomas School, Sector 19, Dwarka – also received a threat early Tuesday morning.
- Laxman Public School, Haus Khas
Wednesday (Day 3 – July 16):
- St. Thomas School, Dwarka – received a second bomb threat within 24 hours, reported at 5:26 am.
- Vasant Valley School, Vasant Kunj – threat received at 6:30 am
- Mother’s International School, Hauz Khas – threat reported at 8:12 am
- Richmond Global School, Paschim Vihar – call received at 8:11 am
Authorities Respond, Probe Underway
Police have registered cases and initiated a cyber investigation to trace the source of the emails. “We have rushed multiple fire tenders to the spot. Nothing suspicious was found during the check,” a Delhi Fire Services official confirmed. In the case of St. Stephen’s College, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia stated: “The mail said that four IED bombs and two RDX have been planted in the premises and library of the college.
