Explosion Targets BJP Leader’s Home in Punjab

A loud explosion shook the home of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar at around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, sparking an immediate police investigation. The former Punjab minister told , he initially mistook the blast for a generator issue, only to discover it was likely a grenade that damaged a side door. Authorities, including Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur, responded swiftly, with forensic teams now probing whether it was indeed a grenade attack.

CCTV footage,captured an unidentified man arriving in an e-rickshaw, briefly circling the area, and then tossing the explosive with his left hand before escaping. Police suspect the grenade landed near Kalia’s gate, close to a police station just hundreds of meters away. Deputy Commissioner of Police Manpreet Singh is overseeing the scene as experts analyze evidence and footage to identify the culprit.

The rare attack has drawn BJP leaders to Kalia’s residence in solidarity, while Jalandhar remains tense. Police are working to uncover the motive behind the incident, which has heightened concerns in the region. The investigation continues as authorities piece together the events of the early-morning blast.
