Bangladesh Air Force Aircraft F-7 Jet Crashed In Dhaka, 19 Killed; 70 Injured

Dhaka : At least 19 people killed and 70 others injured after a training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed into a school building in Dhaka on Monday. The China-made F-7 jet crashed into the Milestone School and College building in Dhaka’s Uttara area.

The jet crashed near Milestone School & College in Uttara area, about 31 minutes drive from Dhaka. Initial reports suggest that the pilot may have died in the crash. “An F-7 BGI training aircraft took off at 1:06 pm today and crashed into the college campus soon after,” the defence ministry said in a statement.

After crashing, the aircraft caught fire. The rising smoke could be seen from quite a distance. Eight Fire Service units rushed to the spot to put out the blaze. The training aircraft crashed at the Milestone School and College in Diabari. Our team has recovered one body. The Air Force has rescued four people with injuries and taken them away, bdnews24 quoted Lima Khanam, duty officer at the Fire Service Central Control Room, as saying.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed. There was no information on the pilots. eyewitnesses said Army personnel rescued the injured students in their arms and took them to hospitals in rickshaw vans and other vehicles. Eyewitnesses told local media that the aircraft crashed into the roof of the canteen of Milestone College at around 1.30 pm. This is the second Chinese-made F-7 to have crashed this year.
