
Mumbai, Sep 06, 2025: The city of Mumbai is immersed in vibrant celebrations as devotees participate in Ganesh Visarjan processions on Anant Chaturdashi, marking the culmination of the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The iconic Lalbaugcha Raja idol, a focal point of devotion, has reached Byculla Railway Station after passing S Bridge, accompanied by thousands of devotees chanting “Ganpati Bappa Morya” amid rain-soaked streets.
Across Maharashtra, cities like Pune, Nashik, and beyond are witnessing similar fervor, with processions featuring traditional drums and devotional chants. In Hyderabad, the Balapur Ganesh immersion, known as Sobha Yatra, commenced with bhajans in Telangana’s Rangareddy district, as reported by ANI. The immersion rituals, symbolizing Lord Ganesha’s return to his celestial abode, involve offerings of coconuts, flowers, and sweets before idols are submerged in rivers, lakes, or seas.
Drik Panchang notes that the Chaturdashi Tithi began at 3:12 AM on September 6 and will end at 1:41 AM on September 7. Auspicious Choghadiya Muhurats for immersion include the afternoon period from 12:19 PM to 5:02 PM. Security has been heightened across key locations to manage large gatherings, with Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad traffic police issuing advisories to ensure smooth traffic flow during the festivities.
In Mumbai, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis performed a Ganesh aarti at his residence and later immersed the idol in an artificial pond, expressing hopes for peaceful celebrations across the state, as per PTI. In Pune, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and his wife conducted the Anant Chaturthi pooja at the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple. Devotees nationwide are bidding farewell to Lord Ganesha with reverence, marking the end of Ganeshotsav with grand processions and heartfelt rituals.
