Al Falah Doc Who Went Missing After Red Fort Blast Was Sacked By J&K LG Over Terror Links

Srinagar : A Kashmir-based doctor, Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan, who was dismissed by the Jammu and Kashmir government in 2023 for alleged anti-national activities, has gone missing following the November 10 Red Fort car blast in Delhi that killed at least 12 people and injured several others. Dr Hassan, who had earlier served as an assistant professor at Srinagar’s SMHS Hospital, was recently associated with Al-Falah University in Haryana’s Faridabad district.

His disappearance has come under the scanner as investigators trace possible links between a network of doctors and the deadly explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station. The Al-Falah University has issued an official statement, saying it is cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies. The varsity is expected to hold a press conference on Thursday to address the ongoing developments, according to staff members at its Okhla office.

Meanwhile, police teams across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh have launched a massive manhunt for a red Ford EcoSport suspected to have been used in the attack. The vehicle, bearing registration number DL10CK0458, is registered to Umar Un Nabi, also known as Dr Umar Mohammad, who is listed as the second owner.

Investigators said the car was registered at the Rajouri Garden RTO in Delhi on November 22, 2017, using a fake address in northeast Delhi. Police later raided that address, but the car’s whereabouts remain unknown. Intelligence agencies have warned that the EcoSport could still contain crucial evidence or possibly explosives.

Authorities believe the suspects used the red EcoSport as a secondary vehicle after a white Hyundai i20, allegedly driven by Dr Umar, exploded near the 17th-century monument. Police units on patrol and picket duty have been ordered to remain fully armed and intercept any vehicle matching the description.

Investigators told India Today that Dr Umar had planned the attack along with Dr Muzammil and Dr Shaheen, both of whom were arrested in Faridabad on Monday with 2,900 kg of explosives recovered from them. After their arrest, Dr Umar is said to have carried out the blast alone. Dr Umar, who was expelled from a hospital in Anantnag following the death of a patient, had joined the Al-Falah School of Medical Science in 2023.
