
Sambhal : Eight members of a family died after a Bolero SUV carrying a wedding party crashed into a wall of a college in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district on Friday. The groom and two minors were among the people who lost their lives in the accident.
Five people died on the spot, while three others lost their lives during treatment. At the time of the incident, there were 10 occupants in the car. The wedding party was en route from Har Govindpur village to Sirtoul in Budaun. The incident took place in Sambhal’s Junawai area. The police immediately reached the spot, and with the help of a JCB machine, the car was cut open to rescue the injured. Five injured persons were referred to Aligarh for treatment.
Among the deceased were Suraj (24), the groom; his sister-in-law Asha (26); her daughter Aishwarya (2) and Vishnu (6). As per eyewitnesses, the SUV was travelling at a high speed before it lost control and struck the wall. The condition of the two injured people is reported to be critical. They have been referred to a higher medical centre in Aligarh.
Videos recorded by onlookers showed shattered glass, bloodstains, and the mangled SUV. Police have started an investigation to determine the precise cause of the accident.
