6 Feared Dead and 9 Others Injured After Tourist Submarine Sinks Off Egypt’s Coast

As many as six people are feared dead and nine others have been injured after a tourist submarine sank in Egypt’s Red Sea. Local sources told media that the vessel sank off the coast of the city of Hurghada today. The injured, including four left in critical condition transferred to local hospitals. According to the outlet and Egyptian newspaper, 29 others were rescued.

It’s believed around 40 tourist passengers were on the submarine — reportedly called Sindbad and part of Sindbad Submarines, when it sank close to the harbor. Local outlet Al-Masry Al-Youm reported that people of different nationalities were on board the submarine, which was taking a trip to explore coral reefs.
