UIDAI to Launch e-Aadhaar App for Quick Online Updates by End of 2025

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is preparing to launch a dedicated mobile application, e-Aadhaar App, aimed at simplifying the process of updating Aadhaar details. The upcoming app is designed to eliminate the need for residents to visit physical Aadhaar Seva Kendras for minor corrections such as name, address, date of birth, or mobile number changes.

According to a Financial Express report, the e-Aadhaar App will be rolled out for both Android and iOS users by the end of 2025. The digital platform will connect directly to verified government databases, enabling automatic validation of official documents like passports, driving licences, and birth certificates. This integration is expected to make Aadhaar updates faster, fully digital, and more reliable.

UIDAI Revises Aadhaar Update Charges

Alongside the app’s upcoming launch, UIDAI has revised the charges for Aadhaar-related updates, effective from October 1, 2025. The revised fee structure will remain applicable until September 30, 2028.

While Aadhaar generation continues to be free, registrars will now receive Rs 75 for enrolling children below five and Rs 125 for those aged five and above. The mandatory biometric updates for children (at ages 5–7 and 15–17) will remain free, whereas adults will be charged Rs 125.

For demographic updates — such as name, address, or date of birth changes — residents will pay Rs 75, whether processed online or at enrolment centres. Updates involving Proof of Address (PoA) or Proof of Identity (PoI) will also cost Rs 75, while Aadhaar card reprints will be priced at Rs 40.

This marks the first major revision in Aadhaar update charges in nearly five years, with the next review scheduled for October 2028.
