Indian cricket team spinner Yuzvendra Chahal recently spoke candidly about his divorce from choreographer Dhanashree Verma, addressing rumors and revealing the emotional toll it took on his mental health. In an interview on Raj Shamani’s Podcast, Chahal clarified that he never cheated on Verma, countering widespread speculation about his fidelity. “I have never cheated. You will not get a more loyal person than me,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment to their relationship.
The divorce, finalized earlier this year, drew significant media attention, with public scrutiny intensifying the challenges Chahal faced. He explained that the couple kept their separation private until the process was complete. “It was going on for a long while. We decided we do not want to show the people until we reached a point of no return,” Chahal said.
Chahal also opened up about the severe mental health struggles he endured during this period, including suicidal thoughts. “I was tired of my life. Every day I cannot go through the same. Same things. Same anxiety. Crying for two hours. Sleep for 2-3 hours,” he shared, noting that these struggles persisted for 40-45 days. To cope, Chahal took a break from cricket, citing his inability to focus. “I took a break from cricket because I did not want the team to suffer because of me,” he added.
