India makes a giant leap in the World Test Championship

Dubai: India defeated England by six runs in the final Test of the series on Monday, leveling the five-match series 2-2. With this win, India has earned 12 points in the new cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) and has climbed from fourth to third position in the standings.

India, which has reached the WTC final a record two times, was playing its first series in the new cycle. Managing to draw the series on challenging English soil is seen as a positive start.

After five Tests, India (IND) now has 28 points with a percentile of 46.67. England, on the other hand, sits at fourth place with 26 points and a percentile of 43.33.

Australia, having recently defeated West Indies 3-0, is at the top of the points table with a perfect score. Notably, in the WTC Final of the third cycle, South Africa beat Australia to become champions for the first time.

According to the WTC rules, a Test win earns a team 12 points, while a draw gives 4 points to each team.
