Virat’s Video Has Become A Target Of The Karnataka Government: Blamed For The Bengaluru Tragedy!

Bengaluru – A new twist has emerged in the tragic stampede incident near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, which took place during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) first-ever IPL title celebration. In a report submitted to the Karnataka High Court, the state government has blamed a video featuring Virat Kohli and the RCB management for indirectly causing the deadly chaos.

On June 3, RCB defeated Punjab Kings by six runs in the IPL final in Ahmedabad to clinch their maiden title after 18 seasons. The following day, during a poorly managed and unauthorized victory parade in Bengaluru, chaos erupted, leading to the deaths of 11 people and injuries to over 50 others.

According to the Karnataka government’s report submitted to the High Court, RCB did not obtain prior permission from city police for conducting the parade on June 4. The franchise allegedly lined up multiple celebratory events, culminating in an uncontrollable rush of fans.

The report further states that RCB made a social media announcement at 7:01 AM on June 4, declaring a free-entry victory parade from the State Assembly (Vidhan Soudha) to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This sudden, same-day announcement received an overwhelming response, leading to large, unmanaged crowds.

The government has specifically cited a June 3 video of Virat Kohli, where he says:

“The real joy of this memorable win, I’ll feel tomorrow in Bengaluru when I celebrate it with the whole city.”

In this video, Kohli is seen celebrating with former teammate AB de Villiers, praising Rajat Patidar’s captaincy and soaking in the historic victory.

This video, the government claims, intensified the public enthusiasm, further escalating the crowd situation on June 4. While the intention behind the video may have been celebratory, authorities believe it contributed significantly to the crowd surge, which turned tragic due to lack of planning and crowd control.
