India-England Test Begins At 3.30 Pm : Sachin Says ‘India Will Win Series With The Margin Of…’
Leeds: The first Test of the series between India and England will start today at 3:30 PM at Headingley ground here, marking India’s entry into the new season of the World Test Championship (WTC). Although India’s record at Leeds isn’t great, hopes are high that under Shubman Gill’s new captaincy, Team India will make a winning start.
India hasn’t won a Test match at Leeds for 23 years. The last victory came in 2002 under Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy when India defeated England by an innings and 46 runs. In that match, Sachin scored 193 runs, Rahul Dravid laid the foundation with 148 runs, and Ganguly himself contributed 128 runs. Anil Kumble took a total of seven wickets in the Test.
Since that victory, India has played only one Test at Leeds (in 2021), where they suffered an innings defeat. Out of seven Tests played at Leeds, India has lost four, won two, and drawn one. Sachin Tendulkar, who has extensive experience of playing five series in England, has predicted that India will win this series 3-1.
Bumrah has dismissed Joe Root nine times
World No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah won’t play all five Tests against England, but in the three Tests he will play, he is expected to trouble the English batsmen. Joe Root, England’s key batsman, has been dismissed by Bumrah nine times in Test cricket. In Root’s Test career, Bumrah has been his biggest nemesis among Indian fast bowlers.
